From June 27 to July 1, Belarus hosted the 4th annual bicycle ride Velopiligrim, 300 km from Minsk to Mogilev, sharing the gospel.

This year the team of the ride was international, Christians from Belarus and Poland who are members of the unions of the churches of the European Baptist Church, the Russian Orthodox Church and the Polish Pentecostal Union.

EVANGELISM AND PRAY

The goals of the riders were praying and evangelism: pray for Belarus, for growth and the emergence of new churches in the country, and talk to people about the gospel.

“On the route Minsk-Mogilev, we met a large number of people, talked about faith, told them how Jesus changes lives. As a result, many people sincerely turned to God, they accepted Christ”, the coordinator of the ride, Dmitry Shumovets said.

The Belarussian Christian newspaper Kolokol-The Bell played an important role during the trip, because “we gave people the Christian newspaper Kolokol. It was easy and pleasant for us to communicate with people through it”, Shumovets explained.

LOCAL CHURCHES

The riders “also participated in the services of the local churches that we met along the way, and made joint prayers, shared our thoughts about Christian unity”.

“The Lord said that it depends on our unity whether the world will believe in the atoning sacrifice of Christ. Therefore, the strengthening of unity was the third theme of the bike ride", the coordinator pointed out.

The journey finished in Mogilev, where the bicycle piligrims participated in the Sunday worship service of the "Peace with God" church before departing to their homes.

“We believe and expect that the next race will be no less useful and interesting, Minsk - Grodno 2019, see you!”, Shumovets concluded.

Pastors and ministries are also using Christian newspaper Kolokol-The Bell this summer when they visit nursing homes, hospitals and hospices throughout Belarus.

Most of the people there rarely receive visits, and some of them have no visitors at all, so that “they are happy with every meeting, every conversation. Christians talked with them, prayed for them and left them the newspaper, which they read with pleasure”, Kolokol staff said.

This year the newspaper celebrates its 25th anniversary. Now 90 churches in Belarus and 48 in Russia use the Christian newspaper Kolokol to tell people in their cities about Jesus.
