Manny Pacquiao is well-known across the world for two things: his boxing skills and his Christian faith.

Pacquiao could become Senator this weekend.

The Filipino boxer announced is one of the favourite candidates for the next Senate election, this weekend (May, 9th.)

A star in his home country, he has been criticised for being very vocal on his views about sexuality, defending heterosexual marriage. Pacquiao even apologised after a video with harsh comments he made in this area caused a major controversy.

The boxer uses every opportunity to speak about his faith in God, be it through Instagram pictures or messages on his shirts referring to God.

GOVERNMENT FOILS ATTACK

The President of the Philippines, Beningno Aquino, announced last week they had foiled a plot to kidnap and kill Pacquiao.

The jihadist group Abu Sayyaf also had planned to plant bombs in the capital city, Manila.

The fighter uploads pictures with his Bible on social networks.

The 37-year-old said he was “alarmed” when told about the plot. “We asked for security, protection for my kids and my family to make sure they are safe.”

“I HAVE NO FEAR”

But he also admitted his Christian faith changes everything. “I live my life like every day is the last.”

“I have no fear. God is with me”, he said.
