Fifteen women have been released from an organisation that captured them in Paraguay, to later exploit them sexually in Spain and France.
According to the Spanish police, “it is a milestone in international police cooperation.”
Police from different European countries and Paraguay have worked together to arrest 14 people, including the leaders of the organisation, who are temporarily in prison.
SEXUALLY EXPLOITED IN FRANCE AND SPAIN
The suspects offered the victims a job as a massage therapist, housemaid, or shopkeeper in Spain. The organisation paid the trip ot these women to Europe and the victims committed to pay it back with the salary they would receive.
The organisation taught the women how to dress and behave during the trip, and how to answer questions of the police, so that they can enter in Europe as tourists. The victims flew from Paraguay to Sao Paulo (Brazil), and then to Paris. From there, they went to Nantes and Madrid, avoiding to pass the first border control in Spain.
Afterwards, the women were brought to houses owned by the prostitution ring, where they were informed of their real job and the debt of 3,000€ they had with the organisation. They also received instructions about the schedule, the prices of every sexual service, and the way they should treat sex clients.
THE OPERATION STARTED WITH A PHONE CALL
One of the victims called the anti-sexual slavery telephone line of the Spanish police to denounce her situation. This opened a coordinated police action in many private houses and brothels in Paraguay, Spain and France.
Later, 13 suspects were arrested and 15 women liberated.
In Madrid, documentation and equipments used in their illegal activities were confiscated.
Meanwhile, the Paraguayan police also investigated the houses of two of the organisation leaders and a travel agency that managed all the trips.
