Christians in Bern, Geneva and Zürich denounced the persecution of Christians in many parts of the world on Human Rights Day.
On December 10, the initiative “Vergfolgung.jetzt” (in English, “Persecution.now”), made passersby aware of the dramatic rise in persecution of Christians in several countries in the world.
Many covered their face with a white mask to “give a face” to those who have to hide because of their faith.
The initiative is supported by organisations such as the Committe For Religious Freedom of the Swiss Evangelical Alliance, youth organisation Fingerprint, NGOs HMK and AVC, and international organisation Open Doors.
According to the World Watch List of Open Doors, these are the five countries in which Christians are most persecuted: North Korea, Eritrea, Afghanistan, Syria and Pakistan.
