Amazon MGM Studios, along with The Wonder Project, will soon launch a series for Prime Video about the story of the Old Testament kings Saul and David, called House of David, Variety magazine reported.

The Wonder Project is a recently created faith-based entertainment production company, led by people who have been involved in films like Jesus Revolution and I Can Only Imagine. Dallas Jenkins, the creator of the successful series The Chosen, is a large shareholder and special advisor to the company.

“With House of David being the first project under this new deal, we are setting the stage for a series of compelling, values-driven movies, and TV shows”, said Jon Erwin of The Wonder Project.

“Two kings. One Kingdom. The outcome is war”

According to the synopsis, the show “follows the once-mighty King Saul as he falls victim to his own pride. A prophet prepares to overthrow him, anointing the outcast shepherd boy David as a second king”.

“David navigates love, violence and politics in the court of the very man he is destined to replace. Two kings. One Kingdom. The outcome is war”.

Vernon Sanders, head of TV for Amazon MGM Studios, pointed out in a statement that they support the “ambition to nurture universal stories of love, triumph, and spirituality”.
