Shelly Ann Fraser - Pryce: “I believe God gave me a gift”

The Jamaican athlete won the 100-metre gold medal at the world athletics championships. “I thank God every day for the way He has shaped me”, she recently said.

The Jamaican athlete Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce won her fifth gold medal in the 100-metre race in in Eugene (Oregon, USA), where the world athletics championships are being held.

She crossed the finish line in 10.67 seconds, followed by the two other Jamaicans, Shericka Jackson and Elaine Thompson-Herah.

"I'm happy that we were able to do it. The USA had done the hat-trick in the men's 100 metres, we couldn't let them steal the show", said Fraser-Pryce about the Jamaican hat-trick.

 

“I believe God gave me a gift”

"I believe that God has given me a gift. The secret of my success is that I am a competitor. I love competing and. I work hard, I am diligent, I am determined", pointed out the Jamaican athlete after her victory.

It's my fifth world title in the 100m, and it's coming at 35. I firmly believe that I can run faster and because I believe that, I will not stop until I have done it”, she added.

 

Outspoken of her faith

Fraser-Pryce often mentions her Christian faith on social media.

She recently wrote: "I thank God every day for the way He has shaped me and for the voice He has given me, and I use it to make life easier for the next generation of female athletes”.
