On Saturday 5 October, the 37th Barcelona Evangelical Olympiad was held in a municipal stadium of the Catalan city.
A total of 1,490 boys and girls, representing 88 evangelical churches, competed in the different disciplines and categories, in what was a new record of participation.
A festive and crowded audience of parents, friends and other church members did not stop cheering on their young representatives on the tracks with flags and representative badges.
The Dádiva church from the city of Cornellà de Llobregat was the winner, followed by the Llibertat church from Sant Boi de Llobregat and the Rutlla church from Girona.
Furthermore, the event featured a special performance by the musician and singer Kike Pavón, who has over 800,000 listeners on Spotify, and is currently one of the most renowned singers of Christian music in Spanish language.
Almost 40 years
The Evangelical Olympiads is a sporting event for children and teenagers organised annually since almost 40 years ago, by the Evangelical Sports Association and the Pocket Testament League (LTB), chaired by Esther Rodríguez, who founded the festive day.
In Spain's capital, Madrid, the Olympiads have been held since 1999, and for several years this event has also been organised by churches in the north-western region of Galicia.
