A heart-stopping video has emerged showing a two-year-old boy, who can be seen wearing a bright yellow rain jacket, started a staring contest with a lion who was inside a pen at the zoo.
Zookeepers at Chiba Zoological Park, where the footage was shot, said the lion does this with children and the act is a playful one.
But the minute the boy turns around to look at the camera, the feline springs up and runs towards its potential prey.
Fortunately, a glass obstructs his hunt, making the feline slam face first on to the glass, but he still remains undeterred and tries to paw the glass.
Meanwhile, the kid is seen little surprised and shocked by the incident while rubbing his head. The lion is said to weigh around 181kg.
“FRUSTRATING THE LION'S INNATE INSTINCTS”
An “invisible power.” The glass was installed in the display in April so that visitors can get closer to the lions.
“Lions are natural wild predators and the child in this video, especially when turning his back to the massive feline, becomes prey in the animal’s eyes,” Adam M. Roberts, CEO of Born Free USA said to The DoDo.
He explains that “the firm glass wall held the lion inside his enclosure, surely frustrating his innate instincts. But luckily for the family, if the barrier had not held the consequences could have been catastrophic.”
WHAT SAVE THIS BOY FROM THE LION?
The video impress anyone, even knowing how it ends. What saved this boy from the lion?
In any case, after watching the video, many will think twice before being in front of a lion, staring at him.
Let us leave you with a last reflection to conclude. Sometimes, without us having realised it, there could be invisible walls which protect us from the big dangers around us.
Doesn’t this story remind us of this scripture in Isaiah?
In that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah: We have a strong city; God makes salvation its walls and ramparts. Open the gate that the righteous nation may enter, the nation that keeps faith. You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. , Isaiah 26:1-3 - NIV).
