Around 300 pastors have died due to coronavirus in the state of Mexico alone

According to data from the regional Religious Affairs Unit, the death toll exceeds 8% of registered evangelical ministers in the area.

The government's Religious Affairs Unit of the state of Mexico has reported that 270 evangelical pastors have died due to coronavirus in that region of the country alone.

The figure represents 8.4% of the 3,200 registered evangelical ministers in the area.

According to Pedro Antonio Mena, the head of Religious Affairs Unit, the deaths are directly related to the coronavirus or to its complications, such as pneumonia or heart attacks.

So far in the pandemic, 72 priests and 15 Catholic nuns have also died in this specific state.

Toluca and Tlalnepantla de Baz, two of the most populated cities in the state of Mexico, have registered the highest number of deceased pastors and priests.

Mexico has had over 2.4 million infections since the beginning of the pandemic. The general death toll exceeds 230,000 people.
