The Ontheredbox ministry is known in Spain for appearing in public spaces to communicate the gospel message loud and clear on an iconic “red box”.

In their new project “Tour of Spain”, they are making a series of short films with which they aim to visit every province in the country.

Pastor Jacob Bock, director of the project and of this ministry, told Spanish news website Protestante Digital that they have already been in the Spanish cities of Valladolid, Segovia, A Coruña, Pontevedra and Alicante , to record the story of their inhabitants and show how their lives were restored by Jesus.

The short films already have almost 15,000 views on YouTube and the sixth episode about Málaga has just been released.

“These are times when people need the message of the cross”

“The project was born in the heart of God. In the midst of the lockdown, we understood that these are times when people need the message of the cross", said Bock, adding that the aim is to travel to the capitals of all 52 Spanish provinces (including Ceuta and Melilla).

According to Bock, the “Tour of Spain” is not just about videos. Although “right now the pandemic does not allow large meetings, in the future, when it is possible, the idea is to contact the evangelical churches in each province and hold a three-day meeting”.

The pastor explained that those events “will begin on Friday with the screening of the short film of that area, and there will also be a concert of the Christian singer Maritza Barreñada, who is working on a song for each province. On Saturday there will be evangelism workshops and on Sunday they will participate in the local worship service”.

They are also designing postcards with an original drawing of an emblematic characteristic of each region, which also have a QR code to access the short film.

For Jacob, the postcards and the video are resources that every believer can use to creatively present the gospel. Some of those resources are available for download or order on the project website.

On-camera testimonies

The shooting time for each video is about 5 days, followed by the post-production process. Marta Durán, director and editor of the short films, pointed out that it is a team effort involving more than 7 people who “travel around Spain with a professional camera, lens, stabiliser, tripod and lighting and sound devices”.

“When the Holy Spirit is in us, there is an urgency to make Him known, and art is a door that we must take advantage of to share the message in a different way”, added Durán.

According to the director, “this is a time where visuals are relevant and social media is a field of mass evangelisation. People invest a lot of time in digital, so we have to be there”.

She stressed that the work has been well received not only on social media, but also “media outlets, prisons, churches are opening their doors to screen the short films. The idea is that if you know someone with depression, for example, you can share the one from Pontevedra”.

Be part of the Tour

Bock explained that thanks to the sponsorship of evangelical churches of different denominations and individuals, they have been able to continue with the Tour.

He also invited anyone interested in the project to make a donation, which will be used to “finance the costs of film production, evangelistic concerts, workshops, street evangelism, travel, and administration”, reads the project website.
