Fifteen years bringing the gospel to the beaches of Mallorca
Over 300 young people took part in Reach Mallorca, with night services, concerts, and volunteering activities in the most popular touristic areas of the island.

Around 350 young Christians, mostly from Germany, Switzerland and Austria, but also from Spain, Eastern Europe, the United Kingdom and the United States, took part in Reach Mallorca, from 30 July to 10 August, an evangelistic initiative which aims to spread the gospel on the beaches of Mallorca.
For 15 years, the young people of Reach Mallorca gather every night at Ballermann, one of the island's most popular tourist beaches where German is mainly spoken and hold two 30-minute services accompanied by music, street art and talks on topics such as “Partying, sex and drugs: what God says about it”.
Among those who shared their testimonies at such events this year was rapper Niels Petersen, alias R.E.A.L.
'I ended up in a jail in Colombia for drug trafficking. I had a really hard time there. I realised that we need support in life. I needed Jesus Christ and the forgiveness he offers,” he said.
Tourists sit on the beach wall to listen to the messages, while others ask the young people to pray for them or simply chat for a while. “There are many more open-minded people than you might think,” says Johannes Baumann, one of the organisers.

Baptisms, a reaggaton festival and more
In addition to the evening services in Ballermann, participants organise more activities on the beaches of Magaluf and Cala Rajada, where the tourists are mainly British and Spanish, respectively.
According to the organisers, “one of the most special moments this year was the reggaeton festival held in Cala Rajada on 3 August”, which was organised in collaboration with seven local churches. “It's no exaggeration to say that the festival was a huge success, with more than 1000 people in attendance”.
Cala Rajada was also the setting for a special programme for children, with music and evangelistic activities tailored to their age group.

The most special moments at Reach Mallorca are the baptisms. The island's beaches are not only the place where young people share the gospel, but also where dozens of people decide to publicly take that step of faith and show their Christian commitment.

Collaboration with local churches
The collaboration between Reach Mallorca and local churches in the city is becoming increasingly close.
Although most Reach Mallorca participants come from other European countries, more and more people from Spain and local evangelical churches are taking part in the planned activities.

Furthermore, they offer their premises for participants to meet as a team every afternoon, to celebrate and worship together, and to receive training before heading out to the different beaches.
“At Reach Mallorca, we have a threefold mission: to bring the gospel to people, to support local churches and to train young people to live evangelistic lifestyles. There are about 50 churches on the island and we asked them how we could support them through Reach Mallorca”, explained Gernot Elsner, one of the founders of the initiative, to the German Christian media outlet Idea.
Street Angels
Reach Mallorca participants also collaborate with the Street Angels ministry, which goes to the British party area of Magaluf every night to take drunk tourists back to their hotels safely, provide them with basic first aid or advise them on how to find stolen or lost items, always in close collaboration with security personnel, the police and local merchants.
“Some tourists can barely stand up and are glad that someone is holding their hand”, says Tim Zimmermann, communications manager of Reach Mallorca.

Future editions
Reach Mallorca will return to the island next year from 30 July to 10 August. Prior to this, similar initiatives will be held in Cancún, Mexico, and Phuket, Thailand, from 7 to 18 February 2026.
“One of the great strengths of the Reach Movement is seeing how the next generation of leaders takes responsibility and how the movement multiplies”, say the organisers.
