According to a research by the website Babell, Noah is the most popular name in Germany for the fourth year in a row.
The name Noah, known from the Book of Genesis (chapters 6-9) comes from the Hebrew and means “comfort” or “the bringer of rest”.
145,000 birth registrations
The researches examined almost 145,000 birth registrations from 1 January to 6 December 2024, from all over Germany, because “there is no official body that keeps statistics on the first names given nationwide”.
“We have access to almost every postcode area nationwide and analyse baby galleries, birthplace websites and statistics from official registry offices, and we can therefore provide a very good picture of the first names given in every corner of Germany”, they add.
Not many changes
The first 3 names of the list have not changed, biblical name Noah is followed by Leon and Luca/Luka, the name of one of the evangelists in the New Testament. Other names, like Henry/Henri continues its upward trend of recent years and is now in 4th place.

Emilia, Emma and Mia
