Botrus Mansour, Secretary General of the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) and Peirong Lin, WEA Chief of staff, gathered with the leaders of nine regional Evangelical Alliances, in Athens on 28-30 April, to strengthen unity and collaboration.

They talked about several topics, including “financial matters, discerning the times, leading as disciples of Christ, and cultivating a servant leadership culture within church leadership”, reported the WEA.

“Pivotal and strategic for the global church”

For Mansour, “the atmosphere was sweet, respectful and constructive”. “We sensed Christian unity across different cultures in the global body of Christ”, he added.

The regional leaders described the gathering as “pivotal and strategic for the global church, underscoring unity, service and collaborative action to witness around the world”.

Participants also spent time in prayer and worship, “reinforcing the gathering’s spiritual focus alongside policy and strategy”, pointed out the WEA.

The meeting included a visit from the leaders of the Greek Evangelical Alliance, and concluded with a tour of the city of Corinth, where the participants celebrated Holy Communion together.
