The first gathering of Spanish evangelical Bible scholars took place on 27 April, organised by the Spanish Bible Society at its Home of the Bible headquarters.
A “historic meeting”, according to the organisers, it aimed to bring together experts, academics and teachers to share knowledge, explore different perspectives and encourage dialogue.
Dialogue and reflection
Luis Fajardo, director of the Bible Society, welcomed the participants, stressing the importance of this initiative as a starting point and connection between academics and teachers from the faculties and Bible-theological teaching institutions.
Ricardo Moraleja, coordinator of the translation department, underlined the opportunity to discuss and share with each other for the benefit of God's people.
Talks and round-tables
The programme included two keynote lectures by Dr. Lidia Rodríguez and Dr. Sergio Rosell, who offered a panoramic view of the main current lines of methodological and hermeneutical research on both the Old and New Testaments.
Each lecture was followed by round-table discussions that allowed the exchange of opinions in an enriching and respectful debate.
The meeting ended with an information session where projects, publications and other projects were presented.
Participants expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to participate in such an event for the first time in Spain.
The Bible Society expects to hold the second meeting next year.
