Camilo, the Grammy who seeks God in private and thanks Him in public

After getting 6 nominations to the Latin Grammy with his first album, the Colombian singer Camilo Echeverry (26 years old) has become the musical sensation of the moment.

Camilo's singles “Favorito”, “Tattoo” and “Vida de rico” have topped the musical ranking in Latin America and elsewhere. On Instagram, many define him as the phenomenon of the year.

Camilo won his first Latin Grammy for his famous “Tutu”, winner of the Best Pop Song, in the 21^st edition of the awards on 20 November. Only on Youtube, the song has over 580 million views.

The key moment of his accepance speech was when he spoke about his faith. “Wow, how amazing. God acknowledges me in public because I seek Him in private and in the secret. This is the only secret I have”, Camilo said.

His new album “Por primera vez” was also nominated for the award.

The singer says his music does not always have “a profound message” but he tries to adress issues that seem relevant to him. And one thing he is sure is that God transforms lives: “More than me, I know that it is God transforming the life of someone, and using me. God is the pillar of my walk. All that I do is trying to represent him. If there is anything intertesting in me, it does not belong to me, I need to point to the one who is the source”.

Something that stand sout in his songs is that they do not include sexual or erotic references. “I want to approach music with honesty. I have a relationship with my wife, and I cannot pretend to speak to other women as I wouldn's speak to my own wife”.

Camilo's father-in-law is the well-known Christian worship music singer Ricardo Montaner.
