This Easter, the municipal buses of the Spanish city of Bilbao will have the text of John 3:16 written on their bodies.

It is an initiative of the Vizcaya pastors' association, which began last Friday 26 March and will last for a fortnight. They have already organised evangelistic campaigns during Easter in previous years, such as the musical His Life, in 2019.

“We couldn't do anything last year because of the coronavirus. These campaigns usually cost between 2,000 and 3,000 euros, but there were special offers because of the pandemic and we went for it. We hope to have a good impact”, explains the coordinator of the pastors' association, Silvano Tonon.

The initiative has the support of the Evangelical Council of the Basque Country and more than twenty evangelical churches in Bilbao.

Several public buses are already circulating in the most central streets of the city, displaying posters with the slogan: “Tú eres la pasión de Cristo” (You are the passion of Christ), and the text of John 3:16.

The association also works in the fight against human trafficking, coordinating the efforts of several churches and evangelical organisations in the Basque Country

Three girls were rescued from brothels last year. Every week we deliver kits with personal hygiene products and food to women who practice prostitution”, says Tonon.

Furthermore, they are collaborating with institutions and regularly carry out campaigns to raise awareness.

Recently, the city council allowed the pastor's association to open a prayer room in a public place, which they open to to serve citizens once a month.
