On 7 June, evangelical churches in the northern Spanish province of Galicia took part in a day of presence, prayer and public expression of their gospel principles and values.
Following an official event in the city of Santiago de Compostela attended by local authorities from various political groups, a march was organised through the centre of A Coruña, ending with a music festival in city centre park.
The social topic this year was immigration, with the theme “Dignity and justice for immigration”. The organisers prepared a manifesto that was read out several times throughout the day.
Institutional prayer breakfast
The executive secretary of the Consello Evanxélico de Galicia (Evangelical Council of Galicia, CEG), Enrique Iglesias Campelo, welcomed the participants of the institutional prayer breakfast, stressing the importance of listening.
“Today we are not only here to talk about immigration. We have come to listen to those who live it in their skin, in their bodies, in their hopes”, he said.

Some political representatives gave short speeches during the event.
José Antonio Cónstenla Ramos, councillor for the conservative party (Partido Popular) on the City Council of Santiago de Compostela, connected the theme of immigration with a few biblical texts. Among them, he mentioned Galatians 5:14: “Love your neighbour as yourself”.
Gonzalo Trenor López, a member of the regional parliament for the same party, stressed that “in our society, love, not hatred, is the dominant force”.
First-hand migration experiences
The morning programme featured several short lectures.
The first was given by Victoria Barajas Gutiérrez, a social educator and coordinator of a humanitarian emergency centre. She invited participants to reflect on the importance of treating immigration issues with respect and empathy.
Afterwards, the audience listened to the testimony The Journey. A true story, told first-hand by Yeinet Díaz, who was born in Cuba and has built a new life in Galicia, where she is now a wife and mother of two teenage children.
Trained as an accounting and finance technician in her home country, she has reinvented herself and redirected her career towards the fashion and commerce sector.
Pastor Ángel Manuel Hernández delivered the second short lecture, presenting a brief overview of his work with immigration.
He has received several awards, including the Medal of Civil Merit of Spain and the Gold Medal of the Canary Islands, as well as various recognitions from all the state security forces, in gratitude for his spiritual and social contribution to the community.

Gratitude and prayer
At the end of the event, each of the authorities received books and Bibles commemorating the 150 th anniversary of the El Camino Church in A Coruña in gratitude for their attendance.
Finally, pastor José Luis Zapata Vázquez asked the guests if he could pray for them and ask God for His blessing and grace, so that they may carry out their work with God's help.

March and concert
The march, held under the theme “Dignity and Justice with Immigration”, took place in the afternoon in A Coruña, as part of the Spain/GaliciaWePrayforyou 2025 project. It was a festive event, preceded by the reading of a manifesto.

The day concluded with the Hope 2025 Evangelical Festival, held in the emblematic Méndez Núñez gardens in A Coruña.
There were several musical performances, and the passionate audience enjoyed the festival on such an important day for the evangelical community of Galicia.
